The use of sedation and Labor has really gained in popularity recently where we are now finding that more and more facilities are offering options such as nitrous oxide to help patients with pain relief without having to use an epidural or opioid-based medications, which a lot of patients prefer to avoid during their labor experience. Nitrous oxide has been used in general anesthesia for a number of years, but recently has gained in popularity for Labor analgesia. Generally. It just provides sedation and some pain relief and could be used on its own or as an agilent or add-on to another form of pain relief that a patient may choose to employ. So overall sedation is gaining in popularity in relation to Labor analgesia and is one of the many options available to patients.
