Differences Between a Midwife and a Doula

“A lot of people have a misconception that a doula and a midwife are the same things and they are very, very different. A doula is a non-medical professional. They are not medically licensed to provide any sort of medical care. So they do not listen to a baby’s heart tones. They would not do any medical recommendations. They would not do a cervical check. They would certainly not deliver your baby. So a midwife is trained and available for medical purposes and a doula is not.”
