[TRANSCRIPT OF ANSWER]

Hiring a Doula

“First, there is no bad time to contact a doula. So even if you’ve gone very far in your pregnancy and you think, ‘Oh my gosh, I need a doula. I need the assistance and the support,’ that is okay. Call local doulas and talk to them. You are not going to get the first pick, probably, if you do wait that long. But you’ll have a good chance that you’ll be able to match up with some available doulas.”

“However, the earlier in your pregnancy that you do research and seek out doulas and meet with them, the greater the chances that you’ll have one that really matches well with you and that they will be available for your birth date. So I would say anytime, earlier the better, but it’s always appropriate to call and interview doulas.”
