ANSWER: “This is something that comes up a lot in this debate when these motherhood debates these days. Breastfeeding is a very personal choice and my goal as an IBCLC and a breastfeeding advocate is to provide education to mothers and families on the benefits of breastfeeding so that she can decide what’s best for her and her baby. All parents feed their babies with love regardless of the feeding method, and I’m a firm believer that education support and non-judgment are going to be what helps us to increase breastfeeding rates. That being said, there are many health benefits for both mother and baby offered by breastfeeding, and these benefits are for over the lifetime, not just during the time period where you’re breastfeeding.”
